Summary, etc. |

Summary, etc. | The male experience of women’s migration: the case of Filipino husbands who remain in the countryThe migration of mothers has recently become the subject of increased social attention because it generates a reconfiguration of power relations in the family. However, research until now was focused on the impact of this migration on the children left in the country, leaving a shadow over the situation of husbands of migrant women. This article presents the results of a Philipines’ based study of the husbands of six migrant mothers. The analysis of interviews reveals that their daily life is completely changed because of the scope of the tasks they assume. Generally helped by women of their extended family with childcare and housework, these men reinvent their masculinity and try to reinforce their marital relationship through the use of different strategies. |

Summary, etc. |
