Summary, etc. | Consacrée à l’étude des méthodes de recherche des étudiants entrant à l’université, cette recherche empirique s’appuie sur une enquête auprès d’étudiants de première année de Langues. Elle met en évidence la coexistence de différentes méthodes de recherche documentaire parmi les étudiants à l’issue du premier semestre universitaire. Il est montré que les sollicitations des enseignants peuvent être déterminantes pour l’adoption de ces méthodes, et que filles et garçons se singularisent. L’observation de la réussite aux premiers examens universitaires met en évidence les différences de réussite entre les étudiants selon les méthodes adoptées mais souligne la fragilité des effets des différents styles de recherche documentaire. |

Summary, etc. | Modes of Documentary Research and University Success Among First Year Students This empirical study focuses on the ways first year university students handle research, using evidence from a survey of first-year language students. It shows that different research methods coexist among students at the end of the first semester, that teacher emphasis can determine the adoption of one or other of theses methods, and that female and male students have different methods. The analysis of success rates for the first university examinations brings to light the relationship between success rate and method chosen, but emphasizes the fragility of the effects of the type of research method used. |
