Summary, etc. | Au croisement entre la sociologie de l’éducation, de l’institution et du travail, cet article montre comment, en dehors des attentes institutionnelles officielles, le traitement et le suivi de l’actualité s’intègrent au faisceau de tâches des enseignants d’histoire-géographie de lycée. Il s’agit de comprendre les processus socialisateurs qui génèrent ces tâches, les rendent possibles et acceptables. Avec une perspective compréhensive, l’enquête amène à insister sur la perception d’attentes institutionnelles diffuses, et la volonté de s’y montrer à la hauteur, où agissent de manière combinée des dispositions professionnelles, disciplinaires et personnelles. L’endossement des tâches concernées procède d’une conformation à un rôle et une identification professionnels, qui en retour contribuent à lui donner du sens. L’analyse montre finalement comment, aux marges des principales activités professorales, se déploient des tâches indissociables de l’intériorisation d’une définition légitime du « bon » enseignant d’histoire-géographie. |

Summary, etc. | At the intersection between the sociology of education, of institutions and of work, this paper shows how, independently of official institutional expectations, following the news is integrated into the tasks incumbent upon history-geography teachers in high school. The focus is on the understanding of the social expectations which engender these tasks and make them both possible and acceptable. A comprehensive methodology leads to insisting on the perception of vague institutional expectations and the desire to be worthy of them because of a combination of professional, disciplinary and personal dispositions. Accepting the tasks results from conforming to a professional role and identity, which in return give the tasks meaning. Ultimately, at the margins of the main professorial activities, tasks inseparable from the interiorization of what it is to be a good history and geography teacher assert themselves. |
