| Summary, etc. | Cette note de synthèse se concentre sur l’assurance qualité dans l’enseignement supérieur, avec une attention plus particulière sur l’enseignement universitaire européen. Elle abordera dans un premier temps l’histoire de l’assurance qualité dont la naissance se situe aux États-Unis pour se diffuser ensuite vers l’Europe à partir du milieu des années 1980. Dans un second temps, c’est une littérature descriptive et prescriptive au service des politiques publiques qui sera présentée. Dans un troisième temps, sera proposée la synthèse d’une littérature qui s’est intéressée aux différentes transformations de l’université provoquée par l’assurance qualité : celles des missions de l’université, des reconfigurations entre les établissements et, d’une part, le pouvoir politique, et, d’autre part, les étudiants, des modes de gouvernance et d’organisation des établissements, des identités professionnelles. |

| Summary, etc. | This synthesis focuses on quality assurance in higher education, in particular in European university education. It first focuses on the history of quality assurance since its inception in the United States in the mid 1980s. It then presents the descriptive and prescriptive literature in use by public policies. Finally, it summarizes the findings of the studies that have looked at the transformations wrought in universities by the development of quality assurance: changes in university missions, in relationships between institutions, and, on the one hand, political power, on the other, students, governance and organisation within institutions of higher education, and professional identities. |
