| Summary, etc. | L'article présente les principaux résultats d'une enquête réalisée en France auprès de personnes condamnées à des peines de probation. Partant du constat de la complexité du sens des peines, l'enquête cherche à saisir la forme spécifique de l'expérience vécue par les probationnaires. Celle-ci est éprouvée comme discordante et, si elle fonctionne malgré tout, elle induit une reconfiguration pénale de l'existence et une surcharge punitive. Les probationnaires font alors l'épreuve d'une situation fort paradoxale et sans commune mesure, dont le sens reste indexé à l'impératif d'en sortir. |

| Summary, etc. | The article presents the main results of a survey conducted in France among people sentenced to probation. Starting from the observation of the complexity of the meaning of sentences, the investigation seeks to grasp the specific form of the experience lived by probationers. This is experienced as discordant and, if it works despite everything, it induces a penal reconfiguration of existence and a punitive overload. The probationers then put to the test a very paradoxical situation and without common measure, the meaning of which remains indexed to the imperative to get out of it. |
