| Summary, etc. | Dans cet article, j’exposerai succinctement le contenu de ma recherche doctorale à propos de la fonction de direction d’une Maison d’enfants à caractère social (MECS). Je définirai l’organisation de ces maisons proposées en France dans le contexte de la Protection de l’enfance, en m’appuyant plus spécifiquement sur celle que je dirige depuis une dizaine d’années. Je m’intéresserai plus précisément à la dimension institutionnelle de ce type de structures et je montrerai que celles-ci font partie des institutions désignées par Alain Noël- Henri d’institutions de la mésinscription, en évoquant les problématiques des adolescents, dits mésinscrits, qui y sont accueillis. J’évoquerai ensuite le phénomène d’homologie fonctionnelle dont je fais l’hypothèse qu’il peut être à l’œuvre entre les conduites de ces adolescents mésinscrits et celles des directeurs et directrices que j’ai interviewé·e·s. Cette hypothèse s’appuie particulièrement sur certaines conduites adoptées par les quatre dirigeants dont j’ai recueilli les propos. |

| Summary, etc. | This paper is a brief synthesis of my doctoral research in the role of head of a maison d’enfant à caractère social or Child care facility (under contract with the state). I will describe the way these Maisons are organised in France in the context of Child Protection, with a strong emphasis on the Maison I have been running for the past fifteen years. I will then focus on the institutional dimension of these establishments, to show that they belong to the category Alain Noël-Henri calls institutions of “ mésinscription”, when discussing the trajectories and ways of being of the adolescents, said to be “ mésinscrits”, who are accommodated in them. I then describe the phenomenon of functional homology which I hypothesise may be at work between the behaviours of mésinscrits adolescents and those of the different heads of establishments I have interviewed. This hypothesis is based on some of the behaviours adopted by the four heads with whom I have spoken. |
