| Summary, etc. | La justice est une des valeurs les plus mises en avant par le sport moderne et la philosophie olympique qui le fonde. Or, cette idée de justice est rarement interrogée ni même conceptualisée, comme si cette notion allait de soi, malgré son ambivalence. L'idéal poursuivi par l'olympisme de Pierre de Coubertin est celui d'une justice aristocratique, où il est considéré comme légitime que les forts dominent les faibles, même si cela n'est qu'au nom d'une supériorité qui pourrait n'être qu'innée, tenant par exemple à de simples prédispositions physiques. Cette conception contrebalance l'idée d'une justice démocratique, laquelle projette au contraire sur le sport l'idée d'un égalitarisme qui voudrait que les hiérarchies ne soient pas fixées a priori, mais fonction des efforts de chacun. Pierre de Coubertin assumait cette tension entre égalité démocratique et inégalité aristocratique, le sport réconciliant selon lui ces contradictions. Toutefois, cette tension entre ces deux types de justice peut conduire à des actes de résistance, comme la triche ou le dopage, cherchant à subvertir l'ordre aristocratique du sport, jugé illégitime. Le sport selon Coubertin reflète ainsi une complexité où justice démocratique et aristocratique coexistent, avec des implications profondes pour la société et ses valeurs. |

| Summary, etc. | Justice is one of the values most emphasised by modern sport and its founding Olympic philosophy. However, this idea of justice is rarely questioned or even conceptualised, as if it went without saying, in spite of its ambivalence. The ideal pursued by Pierre de Coubertin's Olympism is that of an aristocratic justice in which it is considered legitimate that the strong should dominate the weak, even if it is only in the name of a superiority that may just be innate, due for example to simple physical predispositions. This conception counterbalances the idea of a democratic justice, which on the contrary projects onto sport the idea of an egalitarianism which would have it that hierarchies are not fixed as a matter of principle, but dependent on the efforts of individuals. Pierre de Coubertin accepted this tension between democratic equality and aristocratic inequality, for he saw sport as reconciling these contradictions. However, the tension between these two types of justice can lead to acts of resistance, such as cheating or doping, seeking to subvert an aristocratic order in sport that is deemed illegitimate. Sport according to Coubertin thus reflects a complexity where democratic and aristocratic justice co-exist, with profound implications for society and its values. |
