Summary, etc. P armi les apprentissages fondamentaux, la lecture et l’écriture, sont l’objet d’approches très différenciées. Soulever la question de l’apprentissage de la lecture est la garantie de débats passionnés aussi bien chez les spécialistes de l’éducation que dans le grand public alors que celle de la maîtrise des gestes graphiques de l’écriture suscite un intérêt poli voire un dédain affiché. L’histoire longue de cet apprentissage lié à l’enfance montre pourtant combien il croise les chemins de l’histoire culturelle, sociale, économique et technique. L’histoire de l’éducation fait son miel de ces carrefours qui ouvrent les voies de la réflexion sur une discipline scolaire apparemment sans histoire.

Nevertheless, the long history of this learning linked to childhood, shows how it crosses the paths of cultural, social, economic and technical history. History of education is fond of these crossovers because they open ways to some consideration about a subject apparently without any history.
