| Summary, etc. | RésuméCe texte montre combien floues, voire aporétiques, sont en fait les définitions d’une catégorie, la "légitimité", dont les usages ne cessent pourtant de s’élargir. Il montre également (surtout) combien cette imprécision voue la plupart du temps la "légitimité" à fonctionner dans un registre humaniste-théorique et moral. Contre cette dérive de l’analyse des institutions, le texte, en s’appuyant sur la philosophie de Spinoza, propose d’abandonner cette qualité occulte de "légitimité" et que les institutions ne survivent et n’opèrent que parce qu’elles sont soutenues par une configuration adéquate de puissances et d’affects.Classification JEL : B52, P16, Z10. |

| Summary, etc. | This text shows how fuzzy and even aporetic the notion of "legitimacy" is, despite its more and more widespread uses. It also shows how the notion mostly pertains to a theoretical- humanistic and moral tone. Against this drift of institutional analysis, and relying on Spinoza’s philosophy, the text suggests to drop down legitimacy as an occult quality, and rather states that institutions only persevere and work because they lean on a convenient configuration of powers and affects.
