Summary, etc. | Jean-Paul Marcheschi, peintre, sculpteur, confie quotidiennement depuis 1981 ses notes, ses rêves, ses dessins, ses peintures dans des livres, les Livres rouges qu’il définit comme une « chronobiologie totale de l’existence ». Il nous en dit l’origine et leur histoire jusqu’à nos jours. Ce qui l’amène à évoquer son rapport au temps (celui du quotidien, celui des maîtres anciens, celui des temps les plus reculés), ainsi que son rapport à l’obscur et à la nuit. Mais si la décision du passage vers les Livres rouges allait dérouter sa vie de peintre, une autre rencontre, quelques années plus tard, celle avec le feu, reste décisive, puisque le feu tient lieu de pinceau et de réserve de substances, de thèmes et d’images depuis lors. De son pinceau de feu, il tire des tableaux, illustre ses Livres rouges, peint, mais aussi organise de vastes installations où tous les éléments sont convoqués, du ciel jusqu’à cette eau noire qui baigne désormais dans un grand nombre de ses expositions. |

Summary, etc. | Since 1981, Jean-Paul Marcheschi, a painter and sculptor, has been keeping a daily journal of notes, dreams, drawings, and paintings. He defines these Red Books as “a total chronobiology of existence.” Describing how they originated and their history to this day, he comments upon his relationship to time (that of daily life, that of the old masters, that of the most ancient epochs), as well as his relationship to darkness and night. The decision to channel his work through the Red Books threw him off course as a painter. However, another encounter a few years later, with fire, was decisive. Fire has served as his brush and as a storehouse of substances, themes, and images since. With his fire brush, Marcheschi makes paintings, illustrates Red Books, paints, and also organizes huge installations in which all the elements are summoned, from the sky down to the black water in which a great number of his exhibits are bathed. |
