Ce test est loin de constituer un acte médical neutre, il mobilise chez les personnes à risque une réflexion profonde sur leur liberté de savoir ou de ne pas savoir. Notre équipe pluridisciplinaire accompagne la personne dans son processus décisionnel, sans préjuger du bien-fondé de la décision à prendre : savoir, quand savoir ou ne pas savoir. Quelque soit le résultat du test, il aura de conséquences importantes sur l’avenir de la personne. |

| Summary, etc. | The Stakes of Predictive Medicine in Neurogenetics – Where Does Man Stand ? Advances in molecular biology now allow for individuals ‘at risk’ of developing a genetic illness to take a pre-symptomatic diagnosis test and learn more about their genetic status. This sort of test is far from being a neutral medical act, in that it causes people who are at risk to seriously question whether they truly wish to know or not. Our pluri-disciplinary team accompanies such individuals through the decision-making process, without weighing on their freedom of choice – knowing, not knowing and at what moment are the choices they have to make. Whatever the test results say, they will necessarily have important consequences on each individual’s future. |
