| Summary, etc. | En prenant son propre corps comme projet, matériau et support de sa pratique artistique, Gina Pane (1939-1990), figure majeure de l’art corporel (body art) en France dans les années 1970-1980, travailla à inventer un « langage du corps » où la douleur et les blessures auto-infligées seraient source de connaissance et d’ouverture à l’autre et à un « corps trans-individuel », selon ses propres termes. L’article ne vise pas ici à proposer une interprétation psychanalytique de l’oeuvre, mais s’attache, notamment à partir des écrits de l’artiste et des images photographiques de ses actions corporelles, à repérer et interroger les passages inédits qu’elle fraye entre acte, corps et image. |

| Summary, etc. | Body Action in Images - Notes on the work of Gina Pane Gina Pane (1939-1990) used her own body as the source of her aesthetic projects, as the material and basis of her artistic production. She was a leading figure in body art in France in the 1970s and 1980s and explored the notion of a ‘language of the body’ in which pain and self-harming were seen as a source of knowledge, as a means of opening the self to others and to the ‘transindividual body, ’ to quote her own words. This article does not proffer a psychoanalytical interpretation of her work, but rather examines her writings and the photographic relics of her ‘body actions, ’ to shed light on the new passageways she establishes between action, body and image and to explore their meaning. |
