| Summary, etc. | RésuméL’expérience du cancer et de ses traitements augmente l’interdépendance entre les membres d’une famille. Durant la confrontation à cette affection au pronostic incertain, les proches sont bien plus que des preneurs en charge du membre malade. La psycho-oncologie leur a consacré une attention grandissante. Le cancer atteint profondément et douloureusement non seulement la personne qui en est atteinte mais aussi la famille. Cette dernière est appréhendée aujourd’hui comme un système dont l’évolution est influencée par les phases du cancer et dont l’adaptation dépend aussi de certaines composantes propres à la dynamique familiale. |

| Summary, etc. | The interdependence of family members is increased during cancer disease and treatment. During this specific experience, family is not only a provider of patient care. Increasing attention has been drown in psycho-oncology to the family members, who are deeply and painfully affected by severe illness in one of their members. They must be viewed as second-order patients in their own right. A recent development addresses the family itself as a dynamic organism and studies the ways in wich the psychosocial phases of cancer alters family and factors associated with familial adjustment. |
