| Summary, etc. | L’illustration du Lutrin, poème inséré dans Les Œuvres diverses du Sieur D*** de Boileau, est une source d’énigmes que la recherche, littéraire ou bibliographique, n’a pas été, jusqu’ici, en mesure de résoudre. Si, entre 1674 et 1701, seulement deux gravures de François Chauveau apparaissent bien dans les éditions, la découverte récente de quatre dessins originaux destinés à orner le poème « héroï-comique » permet d’enrichir la compréhension de la collaboration entre le poète et l’artiste. En figurant la présence active d’un palimpseste textuel antique dans l’écriture du Lutrin, l’illustration confirme la place majeure de l’esthétique burlesque chez Boileau. |

| Summary, etc. | The illustration of Le Lutrin, a poem included in Boileau’s Les Œuvres diverses du Sieur D***, is a source of enigmas that literary and bibliographical research has not, until now, been able to solve. Although, between 1674 and 1701, only two engravings by François Chauveau appear in the editions, the recent discovery of four original drawings intended to accompany the “mock-heroic” poem enriches our understanding of the collaboration between the poet and the artist. By featuring the active presence of an ancient textual palimpsest in the writing of Le Lutrin, the illustration confirms the major place of burlesque aesthetics in Boileau’s work. |
