520 ## - SUMMARY, ETC.
Summary, etc. This article examines the process of reading medical images and how the body is read and made readable by the observer. In particular, it analyzes the ways in which radiographs reveal sexual difference and produce, by gendering it, biological bodies in a dichotomous way based on gender oppositions. By examining the relationship between women and medical imaging techniques from a gender perspective, the aim of this article is to examine how the practice of radiography in a ‘pre-ultrasound’ era reduced women’s bodies to pregnant bodies and how they were represented by a set of sexual organs and measurable parts.
