| Summary, etc. | Some children’s representation as a “double” may appear as a psychological murder. When verbalized to the analyst, this representation of the double reveals the narcissistic investment behind it; it is above all a way of survival for those parents. It allows them to dispel any confrontations with alterity, which is seen as dangerous. Thus this psychological murder aims to save them from the phantasy of a murderous child. In fact, this phantasy postpones the psychological murder that they endured in childhood to the future. In order to avoid this ever-present threat, they would have to perpetrate it in the present: the representation of the double is a way to do so. |
