Summary, etc. | This paper discusses the representations of interpersonal relationships in adopted children and their parents. A narrative approach was used based on attachment theories. The majority of children are insecure or disorganized, as their early experiences of loss and trauma negatively interfere with the construction of a safe bonding with the adopters. Parents mostly showed insecurity and rigid defensive patterns. Nevertheless, sharing their own caregiving difficulties with researchers allowed the adopters to better understand children’s emotional disruption, increasing their own analytical skills. Although these are preliminary results, the effectiveness of narrative approaches was confirmed. |
