| Summary, etc. | In my research on rivers, I have only addressed religious topics indirectly. Therefore, I will not be able to answer all the questions suggested at this symposium. I will try, however, to analyze the role of religion in the lives of Mosans boatmen and of “French” rivers, then the rituals related to the fords, and finally expressing religious sentiment through the construction of chapels or crosses on bridges, while emphasizing the sources available to the historian. |
