Summary, etc. Greenwashing is Law and Sciences Studies case study that mixes Law, Science and Technology Studies (STS), and the natural sciences in order to elaborate a method of objectifying the (1) “co-construction” of corporate science to evaluate subsequently (2) the effectiveness of corporate policies in terms of ecological transition by using the criteria of “coherence” and “transparency.” Decathlon, the world’s largest sports gear retailer, has implemented an “environmental rating” for its products, the objective of which is to inform consumers of the environmental impact of the products that it sells. Is this environmental rating compliant with the legal obligations of vigilance and loyalty or does it, on the contrary, constitutes a form of greenwashing that could entangle the company’s (micro-level) liability and the ineffectiveness of the (macro-level) ecological transition?
