| Summary, etc. | En 1964, Winnicott réagit à la lecture des mémoires de Jung qui viennent de paraître en Angleterre. Il montre comment Jung à l’age de trois ans a été victime d’un effondrement psychotique suite à la dépression de sa mère qui a provoqué la séparation du couple parental. Winnicott trouve dans ces mémoires une image de la schizophrénie infantile, mais il est par ailleurs impressionné par la force de personnalité qui a permi à Jung de s’autoguérir. Pour Winnicott la vie de Jung a montré que la maladie psychotique peut causer beaucoup de problèmes mais peut également inciter à des réalisations exceptionnelles. |

| Summary, etc. | In 1964, Winnicott, reacting to the publication of Jung’s memoirs in English, reasoned that Jung had been the victim of a psychotic collapse at the age of three, following his mother’s depression, which caused the separation of the parental couple. Winnicott read from the memoirs an image of infantile schizophrenia, but he was also impressed by the strength of character that enabled Jung to heal himself. For Winnicott, Jung’s life demonstrated that a psychotic disorder may cause many problems, but it can also incite the sufferer to exceptional accomplishments. |
