| Summary, etc. | Les approches politiques et institutionnelles ont manifestement échoué, depuis des décennies, à améliorer suffisamment les impacts environnementaux des activités humaines, surtout en ce qui concerne le réchauffement climatique et la sixième extinction de masse. Même si elles ne doivent pas être abandonnées, il y a des preuves accablantes indiquant que le problème est, à sa base, psychologique. Cet article associe des aspects théoriques de psychologie jungienne avec des apports de la théorie Gaïa, de l’écologie profonde et d’autres conceptions du monde holistiques pour identifier à la fois les facteurs qui empêchent une réponse adéquate et le changement de paradigme qui permettrait de les surmonter. |

| Summary, etc. | Political and institutional approaches have demonstrably failed for decades to ameliorate sufficiently the environmental impacts of human activity, above all global heating and the sixth mass extinction. While these should not be abandoned, there is overwhelming evidence indicating that the problem is, at its root, psychological. This paper combines theoretical aspects of Jungian psychology with insights from Gaia theory, deep ecology and other holistic worldviews, to identify both the factors that prevent an adequate response and the paradigm shift required to overcome them. |
