| Summary, etc. | RésuméDans ce texte, Elisabeth Roudinesco commente une lettre rédigée par Freud en 1930 et publiée ici en français et en allemand pour la première fois dans une traduction de Jacques Le Rider. Freud s’y exprime sur le sionisme et tout en manifestant sa solidarité envers ses frères juifs installés en Palestine, il émet de nombreuses réserves sur l’éventualité de la création d’un état juif dans cette région du monde. Il craint en effet que cela ne mène un jour à une lutte fratricide entre les Juifs et les Arabes à propos de la souveraineté sur les lieux saints. Aussi refuse-t-il de soutenir le Keren Ha Yesod, arguant du fait que sans avoir renié sa judéité, il est néanmoins l’ennemi de toutes les religions, y compris du judaïsme. |

| Summary, etc. | In this text, Elisabeth Roudinesco comments a letter written by Freud in 1930 and published here in German and also in French for the first time in a translation by Jacques Le Rider. Freud gives his views on Zionism and while demonstrating his solidarity towards his fellow Jews settled in Palestine he expresses many misgivings on the possibility of a Jewish state being created in this region of the world. Indeed, he fears that this would lead one day to a fratricidal struggle between Jews and Arabs on sovereignty over the holy places. He also refuses to support the Keren Ha Yesod, arguing that while he has not denied his Jewishness, he is nevertheless the enemy of all religions, including Judaism. |
