Summary, etc. |
520 ## - SUMMARY, ETC. | |
Summary, etc. | When management ruins policy Managerial speech aims at both attenuating and integrating the « competitive war » motto: win or die. Its logic is perverse. It promotes « virile virtue » (cold-bloodedly suffer and make suffer), and claims: evil is right. As though this paradigm of owner-shareholder governance would comply with a « natural » hierarchy. Policy is based upon the fact that any single human being is equal to any single other. For a long time, states have set up compromises between the recognition of such humanity and the game played by civil society. Today States find their legitimacy in their ability to sustain the market, and the emancipated individual governs himself according to utilitarian precepts. Now that individuals and States have become businessmen, management is victorious. |
