| Summary, etc. | RésuméAprès avoir précisé les différentes fonctions dites paternelles qui se dégagent de l’enseignement de Lacan et examiné comment ces fonctions s’avèrent très effectives chez les Moso de Chine, une société « sans père ni mari », l’auteur examine comment ces diverses fonctions sont soutenues aujourd’hui, chez nous comme là-bas, par divers agents autres que le père biologique. Il en conclut que, moyennant certaines conditions, la subjectivité d’aujourd’hui n’est pas plus en danger que celle d’hier. Il termine par la question de savoir s’il ne serait pas opportun de parler dorénavant de fonctions tierces symboligènes, subjectivantes et structurantes plutôt que de fonctions paternelles. |

| Summary, etc. | The paternal’s functions todayHaving clarified the various so-called paternal functions which emerge from Lacan’s teaching, and having then examined how these functions prove to be very effective among the Moso people of China, a community “without father or husband”, the author analyses how these various functions are supported today, over here as well as over there, by various agents that differ from the biological father. He concludes that, given certain conditions, today’s subjectivity has not been put in more danger than yesterday’s. Finally, he wonders if it would not be more appropriate to start talking, from now on, of third functions that generate symbols, subjectivating and structuring, rather than of paternal functions. |
