| Summary, etc. | RésuméL’injonction à « participer », symptôme de la mutation des sociétés contemporaines, se traduit dans le secteur de l’action culturelle et du patrimoine par la mise en place de dispositifs en ligne incitant l’appropriation et le partage des contenus issus des collections publiques numérisées. Mais la participation peut aussi prendre des formes qui dépassent les usages prescrits par les dispositifs institutionnels : non-respect des conditions d’utilisation, détournements, voire revente sous un format imprimé. Dès lors, comment peut-on comprendre ce qu’est la « participation culturelle » sur Internet ? En cherchant à en définir les modalités et les cadres, cet article expose quelques-unes des contradictions qui émaillent l’action des institutions patrimoniales dans ce domaine. Et si l’indiscipline n’était pas uniquement le fait des publics ? |

| Summary, etc. | Having to “participate” is a sign of contemporary societies’ change. As for cultural action and heritage it is translating into the implementation of online networks to promote the appropriation and sharing of contents from digitised public collections. Participation can also go beyond institutional framework’s prescribed use: from infringement of Terms of use to illegal resale of content in print. How can “cultural participation” on Internet be apprehended? Numerous cases of self-conflicting institutional practices are presented in this work. Public organisation need to understand the general public’s actual practice and set a framework for their action. What if unruliness was not the sole responsibility of the general public? |

| Summary, etc. | ResumenComo síntoma de la mutación de las sociedades contemporáneas, la exhortación a “participar” en el sector de la acción cultural y del patrimonio provoca la concepción de dispositivos en línea que deben fomentar la apropiación y a la difusión de contenidos de colecciones públicas digitalizadas. Sin embargo, dichas formas de participación pueden ir más allá de los usos prescritos por los dispositivos institucionales: irrespeto de las condiciones de utilización, usos subversivos e incluso reventas de contenidos impresos. En ese contexto, ¿cómo se puede entender lo que es la “participación cultural” en Internet? Buscando definir sus modalidades y sus marcos, el presente artículo expone algunas contradicciones que afectan la acción de las instituciones patrimoniales en este campo. |
