| Summary, etc. | RésuméDepuis toujours, l’infertilité est considérée comme un fléau, une malédiction et elle motive tant l’intérêt des scientifiques que celui des charlatans. Considérée comme une pathologie exclusivement féminine, elle a fait l’objet d’innombrables spéculations quant à son étiologie. Ce symptôme suscite en effet des imaginaires et des attitudes contrastés selon les sociétés et les époques, et le récit des patients porte l’héritage des mythes, des tabous et des interdits encore bien présents dans nos inconscients collectifs. On peut s’étonner de la persistance d’un irrationnel dans un domaine marqué par de considérables avancées scientifiques. Mais nous verrons, à travers l’histoire clinique d’Ariane, que dans ce cadre précis, l’irrationnel permet une construction mythologique qui définit et protège l’identité des patients. |

Regarded as an exclusively female pathology, its etiology did generate many speculations. This symptom awakes the imaginary and create contrasted attitudes depending from the societies and times. In spite of remarkable scientific progress on this matter, the way patients talk about it still the heritage of the myths, the taboos and prohibition present in our unconscious collectives. Through the clinical history of Ariane, we will see the irrational allows a mythological construction which defines and protects the patient’s identity. |
