520 ## - SUMMARY, ETC.
Summary, etc.
520 ## - SUMMARY, ETC.
Summary, etc. Icarus and the Father By examining the relationship between Icarus and Daedalus and between Talos and Daedalus, we shall see how the father’s indifference toward and jealousy of the son can destroy the latter’s murderous desire toward the father, a healthy, necessary desire for the son to have in order to carry out actions on his own. We shall analyze the triangular relationship between action, father and self. We shall also show that the father who regards himself as a father, that is who remains as an ideal, in reality takes on the role of the son, a son entangled in an Oedipal maze. In the final section, we shall see how the father-son rivalry influences and inspires artistic production by examining the relationship between Sonny Rollins and John Coltrane.
