| Summary, etc. | RésuméConfronté à la montée de l’individualisme, à la fois démocratique et marchand, et à la lente remise en question de l’assise socio-économique du mariage, le couple a été constitué en idéal autour de la promotion du sentiment amoureux comme garant de sa constitution. Le double paradoxe de cette évolution, d’avoir à se réaliser soi-même dans la relation amoureuse et de voir cette relation fragilisée par l’incertitude de l’amour, a généré autant une crise des conjugalités ne pouvant assumer un tel idéal que la mise en place de solutions alternatives à la vie à deux traditionnelle, depuis la conjugalité non-cohabitante jusqu’à l’échange de partenaires, en passant par la tentation de faire couple avec l’enfant. L’idéal du couple s’y révèle comme modèle normatif nécessaire pour faire contrepoids aux contraintes de l’individualisme hypermoderne. |

A response to the ultra-modern isolation of democratic and commercial individualism Faced with the rise of individualism – both democratic and commercial – and with the slow renewed questioning of the socio-economic foundations of marriage, the couple has become an ideal, with the promotion of love as its basis. The double paradox of this development, to have to find fulfilment in a loving relationship and to see this relationship weakened by the uncertainty of love, has produced a crisis in conjugal unions, which cannot assume this ideal, as well as establishing alternative solutions to the traditional couple, from couples that live apart to an exchange of partners, and including the temptation of creating a parent-child couple. The ideal of the couple emerges as a necessary normative model to act as a counterweight to the constraints of hypermodern individualism. |
