520 ## - SUMMARY, ETC. | |
Summary, etc. | Transit disorders are manifested by a decrease or increase in intestinal mobility. Most of the time, these disorders result in constipation or diarrhea. Phytotherapy is indicated for occasional constipation with no organic cause, often a benign symptom. There are two types of plantsStimulating laxative plants with anthracene derivatives and mechanical or ballast laxative plants containing mucilage. Phytotherapy is indicated for benign acute diarrhoea lasting 1 to 5 days. Antidiarrheal plants contain tannins whose astringent action protects the colon wall and limits water loss. The aim of this work is to give a detailed description of the botanical, phytochemical and pharmacological characteristics of the main plants used in phytotherapy to treat constipation and diarrhea. |
520 ## - SUMMARY, ETC. | |
Summary, etc. |
