| Summary, etc. | Au moment de préparer un cours ou une formation sur l’évaluation de la famille pour les étudiants gradués ou les cliniciens, la question est de savoir quel modèle théorique ou quelle école de thérapie devrait-on enseigner. L’objectif général du présent article est de répondre à cette question. Il vise plus spécifiquement à proposer les définitions des principales composantes à prendre en considération lors de l’évaluation du fonctionnement d’une famille et de proposer un modèle explicatif permettant d’illustrer comment ces composantes sont inter-reliées. Cette démarche de recherche s’appuie sur une méthode de recension critique des écrits publiée par Grant & Bootht (2009), concernant l’ensemble des composantes du fonctionnement familial proposées par les cliniciens et les chercheurs dans le domaine de la thérapie familiale systémique. |

| Summary, etc. | The question always rises when preparing a family assessment course or a training for graduate students or clinicians: what theoretical model or school of therapy should be taught? This article aims mainly at answering this question. More specifically, it first offers definitions of the main components to take into consideration when assessing family functioning. Secondly, it proposes an explanatory model showing how these components are interrelated. This is based on a research process relying on a method of critical review of the literature as described by Grant & Booth (2009). It covers the totality of family functioning components proposed by clinicians and investigators in the realm of systemic family therapy. |
