Saïd propose une analyse des rapports complexes ente la tragédie et l’histoire dans la critique contemporaine. Après une critique de la « méthode historique » illustrée par les travaux d’E. Delebecque, R. Goossens et A. Podlecki qui s’attachent aux allusions ponctuelles à l’actualité politique et à ses acteurs, elle rend compte des travaux plus récents qui tentent de définir plus largement « le moment historique de la tragédie » et mettent l’accent sur un message politique qui permet, grâce à la distance instaurée par le mythe, une exploration des relations entre l’élite et la masse et une « négociation » entre leurs intérêts respectifs. |

Saïd analyzes the complex relationship between tragedy and history in contemporary criticism. After criticising the “historical method”, illustrated by the works of E. Delebecque, R. Goossens and A. Podlecki, which deal with punctual allusions to political events and their actors, the paper accounts for more recent studies attempting to define more broadly the “historic moment of tragedy” and highlight a political message allowing, thanks to the distance which the myth creates, for an exploration of the relationships between the elite and the masses, as well as a “negociation” between their respective fields of interest. |
