Dans les sociétés occidentales contemporaines, les parents sont incités à transmettre à leurs enfants devenus pubères, non leur fonction parentale, comme c’est souvent le cas dans d’autres sociétés étudiées par les ethnologues, mais des moyens anticonceptionnels. Et c’est par le biais, non de rites de passage, mais de nouveaux mythes en images – les films de science-fiction et d’horreur ou les séries américaines prisés par nombre d’adolescents – que sont transmises les raisons fondamentales de ce nouveau genre de don entre générations. Mais comme tous mythes, ils sont cryptés... Une analyse anthropologique de leur contenu idéologique s’avère donc bien utile. |

| Summary, etc. | Parents of children reaching puberty in contemporary Western societies are urged to pass on to them not the capacity to become parents, as is often the case in societies studied by anthropologists, but contraceptive methods instead. The underlying meaning of this new type of intergenerational gift is transmitted not through rites of passage but by means of new mythological images to be found in science-fiction and horror movies as well as in TV series favoured by many adolescents.
