| Summary, etc. | Cet article a pour objet l’étude des pratiques de la navigation commerciale sur le Nil à l’époque hellénistique. D’abord, nous étudions le contexte environnemental, afin d’identifier les facteurs contraignants et favorables à la navigation dans différentes régions de l’Égypte. Ensuite, nous traitons des pratiques de la navigation commerciale, en partant de deux études de cas bien documentées dans les papyrus de l’époque hellénistique, le κέρκουρος et la προσαγωγίς. Enfin, nous examinons les formes d’encadrement public de la navigation commerciale, notamment la gestion des avaries, le contrôle policier et l’enregistrement des déplacements d’hommes et de marchandises. |

| Summary, etc. | The purpose of this article is to study the practices of commercial navigation on the Nile during the Hellenistic period. First, we study the environmental context, to identify the constraining and favorable factors for navigation in different regions of Egypt. Next, we deal with the practices of commercial shipping, starting from two well-documented case studies in the papyri of the Hellenistic period, the κέρκουρος and the προσαγωγίς. Finally, we examine the forms of public supervision of commercial navigation, in particular damage management, police control and the recording of movements of men and goods. |
