XXX 8) contains an open praise of the diplomacy adopted by the Roman Senate towards the Greek world during the Third Macedonian War. A number of clues, both lexical and contextual ones, lead to interpret it as a reworking of a lost Polybian precedent ; on such bases, it is possible to come to a better understanding of the two historians’ judgments on Rome. |
