| Summary, etc. | Résumé En France, depuis plus de 200 ans, on mêle à la cour d’assises des magistrats professionnels et des citoyens pour juger les infractions les plus graves, c’est-à-dire les crimes. Comment cette expérience est-elle vécue par les individus qui sont appelés à y participer ? Notre étude nous amène à appréhender l’expérience des jurés par le biais d’une double dimension : d’un côté, l’implication personnelle dans la fonction de juger sur la scène ; de l’autre, l’appartenance au groupe re s treint qui se forme dans les coulisses. Au travers de ces deux versants se dessine l’ensemble des éléments qui vont imprégner l’individu qui participe à cette expérience et donner corps à une identité particulière, une « identité » de juré. |

| Summary, etc. | Abstract Criminal Court Juror : Discovery of a Social World and the Experience of Sociability in a Restricted GroupFor more than 200 years in France, professional magistrates and ordinary citizens have assembled together to judge crimes in the criminal court. How do the people involved in this court’s decisions perceive, feel, and interpret such an experience ? The juror’s experience can be approached from two angles : the individual’s commitment to judging while “onstage” and the feeling of membership in the r e stricted group that forms “backstage.” These two dimensions outline all the elements which will imbue the individual who participates in this experience and which will embody a specific identity, that of “juror.” |
