| Summary, etc. | Dans un contexte de mondialisation et de décentralisation, les pouvoirs des collectivités territoriales ont été renforcés. Ceci conduit à nous questionner sur la prise en compte, par les élus locaux français, des droits de l’homme protégés au niveau international : quelles sont leurs représentations et usages dans ce domaine ? Après avoir précisé notre méthodologie, nous présentons ici les résultats de notre enquête. Différents profils d’élus locaux sont distingués. Leurs représentations des droits de l’homme varient selon leur trajectoire sociale, notamment leurs engagements militants. Néanmoins, les usages de ces droits dans l’élaboration et la mise en œuvre des politiques locales dépendent surtout de la taille – plutôt que de la couleur politique – des collectivités territoriales, et donc de leurs ressources économiques et institutionnelles. |

| Summary, etc. | Globalization and decentralization have strengthened the powers of local authorities. This fact raises questions about the way French local elected officials take into account human rights which are protected at the international level: how do they perceive and use these rights? After outlining our methodology, we present the main findings of our research. Different profiles of local elected officials are distinguished. Their perceptions of human rights vary according to their social background, especially their political commitments. Nevertheless, the use of these rights in the design and implementation of local policies mostly depends on the size – rather than the political color – of the local authorities, and therefore on their economic and institutional resources. |
