| Summary, etc. | Les multiples voix qui contribuèrent au déclenchement de la révolte et à sa postérité sont emblématiques des divisions et des conflits au sein de la société napolitaine. Elles doivent être analysées et interprétées à la lumière d’un contexte élargi, en prenant en compte à l’échelle espagnole et européenne mais aussi les valeurs, les formæ mentis du peuple napolitain. Ce dernier était représenté par des juristes qui s’appuyaient sur la plèbe pour reconquérir les postes supérieurs de la magistrature dont ils avaient été évincés dans les années 1620. Ainsi, le Conseil Collatéral et celui des Sièges du peuple constituent des postes d’observation privilégiés pour l’historien afin de mesurer la diversité des stratégies et les conflits institutionnels qui accompagnèrent la révolte napolitaine. |

| Summary, etc. | The State and Asocial Institutions: The Naples Revolt as Told by Its Protagonists (1647-1648) The numerous public figures who contributed towards sparking the revolt, and also towards shaping its aftermath, are indicative of the divisions and conflicting elements at the heart of Neapolitan society. However, it is right to include their political narratives in the context of the Spanish and European Early Modern Age, paying close attention to the values and mentality of these people. The people’s lawyers, according to all sources, exploited the plebeians in order to regain leadership positions in the courts, from which they had been displaced gradually by the end of the twenties of the seventeenth century. The Collateral Council and the Seggio of the people were, in this phase, privileged observatories from which to assess the strategies and the social and institutional conflicts that erupted during the uprising. |
