| Summary, etc. | Les poncifs sur Don Quichotte assimilent indument l’œuvre au « dernier livre de chevalerie », quand ce n’est pas au « premier roman moderne ». À l’opposé, la reconnaissance de l’inspiration lucianesque chez Cervantès ne devrait pas laisser penser que son texte est une pure satire ménippée. La synthèse qui est proposée ici tente de comprendre autant la réalité de l’influence de Lucien que les enjeux littéraires, historiques et philosophiques de celle-ci. Pour ce faire, elle met d’abord en évidence le rôle de quelques textes majeurs de Lucien dans la conception du personnage principal pour tenter ensuite de cerner la nature lucianesque de l’histoire de la « Première », puis de la « Seconde partie ». |

| Summary, etc. | Stereotypes about Don Quixote tend to treat it, incorrectly, as “the last book of chivalry”, or the “first modern novel”. Conversely, recognising the inspiration that Cervantes drew from the reading of Lucian should not let us think that his text is a pure Menippean satire. I attempt here a synthesis measuring Lucian’s influence and its philosophical, historical and literary stakes. I first highlight the role played by some of Lucian’s key texts in the conception of Cervantes’s main character, before trying to grasp the Lucianic essence of Part One and the Part Two. |
