| Summary, etc. | Les personnages des « Vies » religieuses féminines du xviie siècle apparaissent tributaires de deux origines, familiale et spirituelle. Examinant la thèse de la continuité providentielle qui ferait de ces Vies, héritières des anciennes hagiographies, des parcours narratifs écrits d’avance (Certeau, Le Brun), cet article montre pour sa part combien la rupture avec le premier type de filiation est constitutive du second. Cette rupture assure en effet dans le récit la bascule d’une existence déduite du passé d’une généalogie familiale vers une existence capable de produire de nouvelles filiations, à travers un héritage spirituel appelé à se refonder pour se transmettre au sein d’une institution religieuse. |

| Summary, etc. | The characters in seventeenth-century women’s religious “Lives” depend on two types of filiation, namely familial and spiritual. Discussing the theory of a providential continuity that would make of such Lives, derived from ancient and medieval hagiography, narrative processes written in advance (Certeau, Le Brun), this paper shows how the rupture with familial filiation serves as a constitutive element of spiritual filiation. Indeed, this rupture is used in the narrative as a way to shift an existence built on a familial genealogy to one that enables new filiations, through a spiritual legacy that is intended to be re-founded in, and passed on to a religious institution. |
