520 ## - SUMMARY, ETC. | |
Summary, etc. |
520 ## - SUMMARY, ETC. | |
Summary, etc. | Among the political writers of the Spanish Baroque, the Spanish legal expert Baltasar Álamos de Barrientos (1556-1644) stands out due to his construction of a political science resulting from the combination of his experience of public affairs and knowledge of history, the principles of which he wrote as aphorisms. They appeared in the Tácito español ilustrado con aforismos (1614), developed using Tacitus’s work as a basis. This book’s principles, which relate to domestic and foreign policy, were then applied to the reality described in the Discurso político al rey Felipe III al comienzo de su reinado (1598), in which the author developed his recommendations on matters of government, in order to remedy the crisis that Spain underwent at the turning point between the Renaissance and the Baroque. |
