| Summary, etc. | Des ouvriers ont redécouvert le 1er juin 2018 au 4, rue de Marignan, à Paris un tableau : L’Entrée du marquis de Nointel dans Jérusalem. Cette peinture appartenait à un cycle de quatre tableaux que Nointel, ambassadeur de France en Turquie de 1670 à 1680, avait fait peindre, pour commémorer quelques grands événements de son ambassade. Nointel avait effectué une entrée triomphale dans Jérusalem, le 15 mars 1673. Destinées, à l’origine, à décorer la pièce d’apparat du Palais de France, ses peintures furent rapportées par Nointel en 1680. On les retrouve en 1713, au château de Bercy, où elles demeurèrent jusqu’en 1860. Les tableaux furent acquis par un banquier. Il n’en subsiste aujourd’hui que deux qui furent accrochés dans son appartement du 4 de la rue de Marignan. |

| Summary, etc. | On June 1, 2018, at 4, rue de Marignan in Paris, workers rediscovered a painting, The Entry of the Marquis de Nointel into Jerusalem. This painting was part of a cycle of four commissioned by Nointel, French ambassador to Turkey between 1670 to 1680, to commemorate some of the great events that had taken place during his embassy—in this case, Nointel’s triumphal entry into Jerusalem on March 15, 1673. Originally intended to adorn the ceremonial hall of the Palais de France, Nointel brought back his paintings in 1680. We next see them in the Château de Bercy in 1713, where they remained until 1860, when the paintings were sold to a banker. Only two remain today, those that were hung in his apartment at 4, rue de Marignan. |
