| Summary, etc. | The positive polity is the polity of the positive era. It is the opposite of the metaphysical polity, that is, the classical political philosophy whose disappearance Comte wrongly believed in. It is based upon two principles: no society without government, and no society without some form of spiritual power. Government aims at reducing disagreement and strengthening agreement. The theory of spiritual power refers to consensus and authority and relates politics with ethics and religion. |
