520 ## - SUMMARY, ETC.
Summary, etc. Scholars have recently used the term “Daedalic style” in their analyses of archaic sculpture: this notion, named after the mythical artisan Daedalus, has many meanings and can apply to style or geography, but also chronology. All these different meanings are linked to the history of this notion, but they are never explained as such. The aim of this paper is first to examine recent use(s) of the word “Daedalic,” to then recall the origins and the history of this notion, and finally to question if it is still of value for the study of the sculpture of the seventh century BC. Why do scholars keep on using this term?
