520 ## - SUMMARY, ETC.
Summary, etc. The apparition of HIV/AIDS in Ethiopia has put sexuality, which has been traditionally taboo, in question. Since 2004, the American prevention programs choose faith based organisations – and specially EOC – to promote abstinence and faithfulness in agreement with the Ethiopian religious dogma. Based on research conducted with the Ethiopian Christians, and within the EOC, we will lean on the traditional views of sexuality in the Ethiopian culture. We shall then highlight the tensions between the sexual practices and the traditional rules dictated by the religious powers, funded by the President’s Emergency Plan for Aids Relief (PEPFAR). This will lead us to discuss changes of the EOC’s dogma due to HIV/AIDS and the American funding.
