Summary, etc. | For the last few decades, the public hospital has been experiencing numerous scientific, social, political, philosophical, and economic transformations. These impact the way one works there and how one is looked after. The psychologist, who has seen his role expand into all areas of medicine, is in a good position to perceive the effects, but also and more importantly to prevent these effects from resulting in “desubjectification,” or even dehumanization. Based on some examples—observed in the course of 15 years of clinical work in a hospital—of motherhood and the end of life, this paper questions the stakes in the new economic order that governs the current practices in the somatic field. |
