| Summary, etc. | En psychologie, bien que la paternité comme objet d’étude ait été un sujet davantage étudié depuis quelques années, les recherches portant sur le devenir père en contexte d’aide médicale à la procréation (AMP) sont plutôt rares. Cette recherche qualitative exploratoire de type étude de cas s’intéresse à cette problématique. L’objectif est d’offrir une compréhension du vécu de la première transition à la paternité d’un homme en contexte d’AMP, en donnant la parole au père et à la mère. Les participants correspondent à une dyade de futurs parents primipares, ayant la particularité d’avoir eu recours à une AMP autologue pour la conception de leur enfant. Dans une perspective d’étude longitudinale, huit entretiens semi-dirigés individuels avec le père et la mère ont été conduits aux trois trimestres de la grossesse et à un mois postnatal : chacun a été invité à raconter le vécu du futur père. Dans une logique inductive, une méthode d’analyse à deux niveaux, soit thématique et par catégories conceptuelles, a été utilisée afin de dégager la richesse et la complexité de la réalité des participants. L’analyse des données met en évidence que l’expérience de l’AMP teinte la transition à la paternité à tous les temps de la grossesse et de façon différente, notamment à travers différentes réactions au corps médical. Le temps postnatal semble également être un temps particulier considérant les liens de sens effectués par le participant entre le vécu de sa transition à la paternité et l’héritage de la procréation assistée. |

| Summary, etc. | In psychology, although paternity as an object of study has been more recently considered, still very few studies are oriented towards assisted procreation. This case study from a qualitative research on the transition to fatherhood focuses on this issue. The objective is to provide an understanding of a man’s experience regarding his first transition to fatherhood in the context of assisted procreation from the father’s and mother’s discourse. The participants are a couple of future first time parents, presenting the particularity of having used an autologous assisted procreation for the conception of their child. From a longitudinal perspective, eight individual semi-directed interviews with the father and with the mother were separately conducted at each trimester of pregnancy and one at the postnatal month: both of them were invited to tell the experience and the story of the future father. With an inductive logic, a two-level method of analysis, thematic and by conceptualizing categories, was used to reveal the richness and complexity of the participants’ reality. Data analysis shows that the experience of assisted procreation dyes the transition to paternity at all times of pregnancy and in many different ways, especially through reactive dimensions to the medical profession. Postnatal time also seems to be a special time considering the participant’s meaningful links between the experience of his transition to fatherhood and the legacy of assisted procreation. |
