| Summary, etc. | The ancient Greek art of household management is a complex one. It involves technical knowledge (like agriculture and accounting as well as geo-climatic and psychological knowledge) oriented towards the acquisition and the preservation of goods, but it also involves non-technical thinking about the limits and values that should frame all these arts and knowledge, with a view to the proper use of the goods. In this paper on Xenophon’s Economics, I will examine whether, and under what epistemological conditions, all those knowledge can be combined into a single one, of which the oikos would be the locus. |
