Summary, etc. Dependence on video games is a topic addressed in psychology through various theoretical insights. The anthropological dimension allows the issue to be taken up with a complementary perspective to that of the clinical approach to dependency during adolescence. Adopting a qualitative approach, the present article discusses how, in the context of postmodernity and cyberculture, subjective experience related to abandonment can turn into a quest for fusion with the object and a, sometimes violent, attempt at separation via the use of an external support: on-line video. The clinical elements gathered in validate the hypothesis as connected with the subjacent mechanisms leading to that dependence. These results emphasise how important it is to achieve an articulation between already known clinical data and the use of a new medium relating to the evolution in cultural production and societal values.
