Summary, etc. The relation between collapse and institution (state, knowledge…) is one of the weak points of the political proposal of collapsology. However, it insists on the need to reconstruct forms of relations adapted to collapses. But it also tends to consider, as Anna Tsing’s work shows, that it will be possible to negotiate between the ruins of the old world. This imaginary of always possible arrangement is, however, seriously undermined as soon as we take into consideration other ruins, those characterized by their irreversibility. Yet the ruins to come are of a different nature. The text questions the compatibility of the political proposals of collapsology in the face of the irreversible ruins that will have to be managed (nuclear waste, chemical products…). The long-term control of these ruins requires the existence of technical infrastructures (expert knowledge) and operational institutions (security, financing…), intended to regulate risk and reduce situations of violence. This confrontation will make it possible to see which paths could be followed by the collapsologist sphere in order to revalorize the place of institutions.
