| Summary, etc. | While the interest in Jacques Ellul is growing among environmental activists and intellectuals, the theological aspect of a great part of his work is being questioned. The sociologist, critical of technology, was in fact also a protestant theologian. What should we do with the theology of Ellul? Some think that it only concerns Christian readers; others think that it condemns all his work to be placed on the side of a reactionary conservatism. As for us, we would like to develop the idea that it is the bearer of a meaning and a power having a value independently of any act of faith, in particular in that the eschatological temporality that he constructs in it can be a relevant political response to the contemporary threat of a collapse. |
